About MG

Founded in Oxford, England, in 1924 by Cecil Kimber, MG (Morris Garages) quickly established itself as an iconic brand in the automotive industry, renowned for its affordable and spirited sports cars. The brand’s commitment to performance and style led to significant success and a lasting legacy in the motoring world.

MG began by creating sporty versions of Morris cars, with the first true MG model, the MG 14/28, launching in 1924. This car set the foundation for the brand’s focus on providing sports cars that were both exciting to drive and accessible to a wide audience.

In the 1930s, MG achieved remarkable success in motorsports, competing in prestigious events like the Mille Miglia and the Tourist Trophy. The MG K3 Magnette, in particular, became famous for its lightweight construction and competitive performance, showcasing the brand’s engineering prowess and competitive spirit.

After World War II, MG capitalized on the growing demand for sports cars, especially in the United States, with the MG T-series. Models like the MG TC, TD, and TF were celebrated for their classic design and engaging driving experience, helping to establish MG as a leading sports car manufacturer.

The introduction of the MGA in 1955 marked a new era for MG, with its modern design and improved performance. This was followed by the launch of the MGB in 1962, a model that would become one of the best-selling sports cars of all time. The MGB’s monocoque design and refined styling made it a favorite among driving enthusiasts and solidified MG’s place in automotive history.

MG’s legacy is not only defined by its engineering achievements and motorsport successes but also by its impact on car culture and its enduring popularity among enthusiasts. Owning an MG is a way to celebrate the brand’s rich heritage, embracing a time when driving was all about joy, innovation, and the open road.
